Sun direction [BUG(S)] turn off self rotation control

the sun controls/changes its own rotation and there is a bug when it is nested in a hierarchy. it would be nice to have a switch to turn this "self rotation control" off and have it work like a regular light pointing in Z direction as any other light.

1) Add a Corona Sun "Sun1" with Rotation 120 ° and Angle 35

2) Add a null with Rotation H = 45

3) Copy Sun1 as child under null, name it "Sun2"

4) change the Sun2 Rotation 75 ° in the Attribute Manager (in the Rotation and Direction section)

Both Suns now have the same Z Vector, but.... the sunlights come from different directions !

Also the GUI display is wrong.. the "Star" is at the opposite end of the Z vector,

but the white sun angle indicator has a different rotation.

When u change the "Rotation" back to 120 from 75 you dont get back the previous state,

both the direction and the Z Vector change but do not match as before.

Second Issue:

if you now change the rotation of the null, the sunlight direction of Sun2 does not change.

this is all highly confusing as it contradicts basic core concepts of c4d ...

the sun tampers with its rotation and doesn't use its Z direction (as any other light in c4d)

ps.

btw ... how are rotations of sun and sky connected ?

does it matter if the sun and sky object have different rot.H values ?

TY! 1 and 2 won't be addressed or considered under this Idea (those will need tickets, if not already created), and here things will focus exclusively on point 3 :)

Can you separate the bug, and specify here what is JUST the feature request? Thanks!

Thanks for the info! The forum is still the current forum, so it's not old :) If you have posted there, then no need to create a ticket as the support team will do that when they come across the report. It is best though to use the ticket system for bugs, it can get you a faster response time. Thanks for reporting it, and with that we'll leave this as New until we find out whether it's a bug or a feature request :) Thanks!

This should be explored first as a bug rather than a feature request, and for that you will need to raise a ticket via https://support.chaos.com/requests/new . For now I will leave this as pending, please raise the ticket (or maybe you have so already since the above description sounds familiar - or perhaps it was posted on the forums?) Once we investigate whether this is a bug or expected behaviour, we can return to this as a feature suggestion and either cancel it (if it is a bug), or make it into a Pending suggestion. Thanks!
