Hi there,
It would be fantastic to have the option for lights to use the so-called GOBO. A mask shaped like a tree, for example, to simulate light/sunlight shining through windows and across tree branches. Of course, the light would need to determine the directionality, which is already doable. To get sunlight-like lighting, simply set the directionality to a high value.
Kind regards
Is this not the same as your Light distribution/mask request (where I have commented on that being the same as a request over on the 3ds Max section)?
Hi there,
Photometric lights in 3ds Max can actually be used with projection maps to simulate GOBO effects. With Corona, you can enable CoronaShadows and optionally Area Shadows to make this work. You can also control the intensity and look using the Hotspot/Beam and Falloff settings.
That said, since Corona focuses on physically accurate and photorealistic rendering introducing gobo directly might not be optimal as it can increase render times and can produce unrealistic effects. While gobo effect already works fine with Corona using Photometric lights in 3ds Max, this might be unnecessary to introduce directly in Corona.
Hope that helps 🙂
