We did get this feedback and have it on a list, as a response to our forum poll on why people still use the original VFB and not the new one :) As a note, it was not "for no reason" but because the new framework for the VFB 2 doesn't allow for the same coding approach for this as the original VFB.
Also, to save disappointment, I can tell you it won't be the smiley when some rendering indicator comes back, sorry - but whatever we come up with will serve the same purpose.
