The user would like to be able to specify one or more render regions AFTER the distributed rendering has been started. The information about the regions should also be sent to render nodes so that they render only those regions, not the whole image.
The workflow would be:
start DR > master and nodes start rendering > draw a region in the VFB > master and nodes are rendering only the specified region
