Thanks for the suggestion, but this workflow is already possible in Corona today - you do not need to switch to the viewport.
Here is how:
1. In the Corona VFB toolbar, enable the "Pick" button. 2. Click on the object in the rendered image. The object gets selected in 3ds Max automatically (no need to go to the viewport). 3. In the Material Editor, use "Pick material from Selected object" - this loads the material of the selected object into the active slot.
So, the VFB already handles the picking, and the Material Editor picks up the selection from there. You stay in VFB and SME the whole time.
Let us know if this covers what you were after, or if there is a specific detail in your workflow that this does not address.
There is "Pick" option in VFB, which let's you pick an object (basically a Select function as if VFB was the viewport). After this, you can click get material from selection in SME.
Does the proposed thing differ in anyway from this?
